iPod in car
 

I wanna know what everybody uses to hook there iPod up to their car stereo. I gotta get something.
I've seen the Monster setup in action.

I haven't seen this in person, and want to know if anybody has used it:

Then ther is iPod2Car, which plugs into the back of the car stereo and gives you access to the iPod using steering wheel controls and stuff like that. I guess it's better cuz you have less signal loss as you do using one of the other 2, both FM transmitters. But on the downside its not portable, which also could be good in that its not prone to theft.

So what do you guys use and why.

Sony tape adapter, the sound quality is better and you can turn the volume higher. Cheap, too.

If you have a tape player in your car, all you need is a tape adapter like you would use for portable cd players. They go for about 20 bucks, and give better reception then any of the fm-radio devices.

I hear that. No cassette deck though. So its either FM transmitter or AUX plugin.

Well, in that case, I have listened to an Ipod in the device in the bottom picture. I didn't notice any problems - sound was fine, and it looked pretty convenient, as it is a charger and transmitter in one. Less wires has to be good, no?

i had the second contraption you have pictured bc i wanted a place to hold it, as well as playing my music.

big mistake. after two weeks, one of hinges broke and the thing took periodic nose dives into my armrest everytime i stepped on the gas hard. a week later it just stopped connecting to my AV power socket altogether.

dont buy it...$100 down the drain.

2 of my friends both hooked their's up through the auxilary inputs in the back of the cd player. Then they put a headphone jack coming out of the front console somewhere inconspicuous and just plug the iPod in there through one of those headphone-headphone looking cords. It works great, and sounds just fine, but it's a litte on the complicated side.

You could always just buy a new BMW and get it with the iPod connector. http://www.apple.com/ipod/bmw/

I have the Monster thing. It works good.

I used to have this cheap Belkin one that only transmitted to the car stereo and did not power the ipod. I was not pleased. I would frequently lose battery power (maybe having the ipod out in the cold isn't good for the battery or whatever) and wouldn't be able to use it at all. The monster setup powers it and transmits well and I haven't had any problems. Only problem was that it was $70 which sucked... but I didn't see any decent alternatives, so I bought it.
