Dell 2005FP WS or 2001FP?
 

This one's for all you tech junkies out there,

I am aware that the Dell 2001FP is the standard for players around here. My question is, is there any reason not to get the widescreen 2005FP instead? I would be very interested in this monitor, and unless anyone knows of any drawbacks to it, I would prefer it over the standard 2001FP. Thanks for all your help.

Quick answer, without looking back at the many many posts on this topic: 2005FPW is not 1600x1200. I think it's 1600x1050. That said, I love mine. On the rare occasion when I do have more than 2 tables open. the overlap is not bad at all. Two Party tables fit side by side but not completely top to bottom.

Thanks for the quick response. I have searched for posts on the topic, but only found a million about how great the 2001FP monitor is. I appreciate your help, usmfan. Anyone else use both monitors that has an opinion?

Out of curiousity, why would you prefer the 2005fp? More expensive with worse max resolution if you're getting it for multitabling.

If I get it with a new computer, it is the same price. I am not overly technologically savvy so that is what I came on here to ask. The appeal of a widescreen monitor drew me in, but I didn't know if there were any drawbacks, such as the afforementioned resolution limitations.

The 2005 is 1680x1050 compared to 1600x1200 on the 2001 so you actually have less screen space. For multi-tabling and general computer use I believe the 2001 is better. The only reason to get a 2005 would be for widescreen movies or if you have a hard on for widescreen monitors.

Thanks for the help. While I do get a little turned on by widescreen monitors, I think I could learn to love the regular 2001FP.

Actually, the 2001 and the 2005 usually trade back and forth as to which one is higher priced at the moment. It is a clear limitation that the 05fpw can not do 4 tabling with no overlap. However, if you're like me and don't usually 4 table that is of little concern. I prefer the widescreen form especially for when I am not playing poker: movies, surfing, etc. It's all a question of what are you going to use it for? Read more as I think both models have some minor flaws: 01 has been sait to have the screendoor effect for some and the 05, I think, has a slower repsponse time. I beg you not to take my word on those items though as I'm going strictly off memory.

Just ran a check for you real quick...

2001FP: 16ms (off a third party review site)
2005FPW: 12ms response time (off Dell website)

I bought a 2001fp today...there's a 70 dollar off coupon...go to www.techbargains.com and search Dell 2001fp.
I think it ends today.
