JTs on the button

4-handed 10-20 game. Three other players are insane. So far I've seen Q2o cap the flop on a 9-6-4 board, seen someone three-bet with 37o on a 8-9-3 board.

UTG is aggressive but pretty good, likes to build a pot before the flop.

Hero has J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. on the button.

UTG raises, Hero calls, SB folds, BB folds.

Flop comes 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].

UTG bets, Hero raises, UTG calls.

Turn: 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].

UTG checks, Hero checks.

River: T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].

UTG bets, Hero . . .

Thought this one was kind of interesting. I play mainly NL and this was my first time in the 10-20. Thoughts on all streets appreciated.

Because the game is short handed you have to call. In a limit game, the rule is: The less players at the table, the more bluffing is part of the game. This guy may be taking a shot to steal with a hand that missed. In a short handed game, don't lay down top pair unless your very sure you're beat. Especially vs. an aggressive player.

As a matter of fact, that's what I did. I raised, he folded.

How's the rest of the hand?

Is calling two cold here terrible? I figured it can't be that bad if I'm on the button.

I dont know too much about shorthanded but I dont like calling 2 cold here. The reason is that you have virtually no showdown value.

At a full table with a multiway pot calling 2 with JTs on the button is ok.

I thought both blinds would come along. Does this change anything? Or still bad?

Do you like to play medium suited connectors for a double bet and 3:1 odds?

cold calling on the button in a short handed game seems like a bad idea, but I think it is also generally a bad idea at a full ring game. What are people's philosophies on cold calling on the button?
