Any Turning Stone regulars?

Hey all,

I'm looking to make my first trip to the cardroom for some fresh live play and was wondering if anyone visits or has visited Turning Stone in NY. I'll prolly be sitting at the low-limit NL tables over the holidays to try and capitalize on some fishy vacationers . Anyone able to offer advice, funny stories, anything... lemme know.

ask TurningStonePro and TurningStoneMBD, I hear they know a few people who play there.

Been there a few times. Most recently was there on Thanksgiving night. Played 3/6 HE from 11:30pm to 6:00am and left up $369. This game was very fishy with 7 or 8 seeing the flop frequently. Most players were passive so it was easy to make an advertising play once in a while, donate a few chips, and keep the fish thinking you were just one of them.

If you're prepared to be sucked out a few times and can maintain a disciplined game through the suckouts I'd say you have a good shot at a profitable session. If getting beat by gutshot straights is going to make you go on tilt, be prepared to lose.

Some very general player comments: There are a bunch of college age kids up there frequently. By and large, they are very fishy. If they're there with friends there's a good shot they all came with a few hundred to donate and when it's gone, they leave. Unlike Foxwoods and other venues, I have yet to run into a good female player at Turning Stone. There are some regulars there and the dealers usually give them a warm, first name welcome so they're pretty easy to spot.

Good luck.

There's definitely usually a large college contingent (which I was part of the last 4 years), although being over the holiday, that number may be significantly reduced.

Overall, the quality of play is pretty poor -- both among the college students and the regulars -- at the lower limits, so a skillful player should be able to do fairly well.

But most importantly, anybody vacationing in Verona, NY in the middle of December has GOT to get their head checked.

I'll be going to T Stone over winter break. I'm not crazy, just from up around there.
