Rake in NL home game(s)
 

I play in a NL game that has a one 5$ blind structure. They rake 5$ for every $50 that goes in the pot. Is this pretty standard? Say it was a 1/2$ blind NL game, What amount do you think should be raked from each pot as to not be excessive? Also how many hands on average get dealt in an hour of these home games. Not that im thinking of starting a game or anything...

That is a HUGE rake. I would think that most people who have a home game with a rake pay less than they would in a casino. Our 2/5 NL home game gets raked a buck a hand, no flop no drop, plus tips. The dealer is ALWAYS happy.

too expensive, due to pot sizes being very unpredictable, perhaps you can consider a flat time charge instead.

So if the post is $300, they rake THIRTY dollars from it? That's way way too high for anywhere, especially a home game. You'll bleed your players dry.

You might be able to get away with 10% of the pot with a $5 MAX, but only if you provide food, drinks, security, a nice environemnt, good dealer, etc.

Something like $1-2 per pot (depending on size) + dealer tip is much more reasonable, and fair.

I explained the rake poorly. They ONLY rake if the pot gets to 50$ and then its 5$. And they dont rake more than 5$ a hand.

I have to agree. I understand asking for a small collection to help out with cards and stuff, but I dont like the idea of a rake.

If its a big game, that could get alittle attention from the PoPo. Instead of makeing a rake, just invite bad players.

a rake at a home game is illegal if the house is taking a cut. If its just for food and [censored], just make everyone poney up before the game starts. We do a jackpot at my home game, but that goes to the high hand of the night, and it works pretty well for our game. I would refuse to play a home game with a house rake though, completely absurd.
