Your thoughts on flopping top two pair (connectors!)

Last night in my journey to beat Party 1/2 ( I just got my
BB/100 in the black too), I flopped top two pair three
times (all three connectors) only to lose to straights.
In all three hands, I was in LP and limped in with cards
such as 9T, TJ, and KQ, all off suit.
All were about 3 to 5 players to the flop. The problem was,
I can't get away from top two pair so I just called them down. Two of the hands were river suckouts.
I've got to do some odds research on this.
In all cases, the eventual winner flopped an OESD, so he's
hanging around for sure.
Utcha think?

Don't limp with trash. With KQo, I'd raise. JTo is highly overrated after 4 limpers. 9To I muck from everywhere.

When you play connectors, (and I probably wouldn't have played JT or T9 off,) and you flop two pair, you are obviously going to lose some hands to straights. But until I get raised, I am happy, and when I do, I usually call my opponent down. It isn't any fun to lose three in a row though.

JTo and T9o are complete trash hands

Thanks guys for replying.
The 9T and TJ (both off suit) were limped in with in LP
with about 5 to 7 seeing the flop. But even in my PT short
hand history base, both are in the red. I will be folding
these in the future. My PFR is only 3.5% and my VPIP is
35%, I need to get one way up and the other way down

While we're on the subject, would you limp in these hands
if both were suited? I'm playing Party 1/2 and make a
thunder run up to 2/4 at times.

I would consider raising.

Look, all of the hands that you sighted are playable. . . in the right circumstances. i.e. Late Position. If you flop two pair (and they are connected) and you are playing a low limit, you need to realize that with "5-7" people in the hand, somone is likely open-ended. When you see that the straight is out there, you need to be more cautious.

The beauty of playing connectors (suited is more ideal) is because you get great odds to see the flop in a multi-way pot. Not that you are on a two-pair draw. If I play 78s I really do not want to see a 7 and and 8 on the flop unless I can keep a lot of people in the pot to draw for my boat. Just my two pennies.

Good Luck

Unsuited they are indeed trash. They need to form the mortal nuts to win more often than not, and they don't do that enough to make up for all the losses.

Suited they are worth a raise to build a pot and buy you a possible free card from LP. Being suited is a very big advantage in LL hold'em.

As far as flopping two pair goes? On Party every time I flop two pair of any kind when there is a draw on board, I die a little inside. That's because I know the BS algorithm will kick in and I will lose. Seriously though, 2 pair with connectors means a draw is lurking so don't drive more than fifty-five.
