If Bush Loses...

how do you think his one term presidency will be viewed by those in the future? it seems like it would be a pretty failed term in office. what does everyone else think?

He will be seen as one of the worst presidents ever. No question. I think there has been an upside to his presidency: he has outraged people into paying attention. Voter turnout is going to be huge, and I think that GWB is responsible for that.

I think it all depends on a few things we won't know for awhile

1) How do the Iraq elections go

2) Is there another terrorist attack in the US

3) How does Iraq look in 4-5 years.

He will go down in history as one of the worst presidents of all time. Right up there with Nixon.

Who knows. Churchill lost but history has treated him incredibly kind.

The outcome in Iraq is irrelevant to how Bush should be judged. You shouldn't evaluate decisions based on outcomes. You evaluate decisions based on whethere the choice was the correct one at the time given all knowable information. Unilaterally invading Iraq will go down as a colossal error.

John Kerry would disagree as would most Americans. The issue of Iraq has been how it was managed.

He also said knowing what he knows now he would still vote to invade Iraq. I will consent that this is unclear and you may be correct. It was not my main point.

What I was saying was this. Kerry has all along argued that the issue of Iraq facing the voters was that he can manage it better. This is different from say Dean who argued clearly that going war was a mistake.

I think most people who are not solid liberals may support going to war but are not happy with how it being conducted. Namely security of the troops.

I'll put it this way. If the situation was reversed and Iraq was mostly without the problems we see now, Bush going to war without allies would not be enough to defeat him.
