Anyone have trouble opening Crypto progams with XP Home?

I was wondering if anyone else goes through this? I open the Crypto program and it freezes - and I have to kill the program and start loading again - over and over. It is fine after it finally first loads (when you see the tables load it is fine), but before then it is a pain. Does anyone know of a solution to this? Thanks in advance.

My computer used to do this, was a huge pain in the ass. Now it doesn't. The only thing I think may have changed was I changed my firewall to the shareware Zonealarm. It may be your firewall doing it, though I tried turning mine off before and it still did the same thing.

So to sum up, I have nothing really helpful to tell you but I did have a similar problem, it's not just you. Try fiddling with the firewall.

I have the same problem. I've tried emailing William Hill about it and haven't had a response. If anyone has a solution to this I would love to know.

XP has a firewall that Crypto does not like - if you can disable the fireall do it. Otherwise call them and they can send you instructions.

My guess is that this started happening after installing sp2 for XP, right?

I would call Crypto tech support and ask which port you need open up. Then go to the personal firewall (now built in and on by default in sp2) setting and open the needed port.

Well, I've been on the phone to William Hill support to try and get this sorted. The guy I spoke to said I would need to open ports 1000-9000 on my firewall, which he admitted kind of defeats the purpose of having a firewall in the first place.

He wasn't willing to help me any further, and basically told me not to bother playing with them. He then started saying my firewall must be crap (ZoneAlarm).

I'm sure that there's probably a way to get it working, but if that's the kind of response I get I don't think I'll bother.

I'm sure it doesn't use all those ports.

The support guy probably didn't know which ports the software uses...

I have a tool that shows which ports get used by different executables on one of my machines. I will try it and see which ports are used.
