Moving up to $1/2
 

Well, after lagging away too much money at the 2+2 table today, I thought it was about time to give the 1/2 tables a shot. I've got a 400BB bankroll, and I'm not planning on doing it all the time, but it seems like a good idea for now.

Anyone have any tips for adjustments I should make? The tables I scouted out are REALLY loose right now, very good overall.

Hand 1 looks good to me.
Hand 2 I'd probably raise the flop to try to get it heads up. I think I would anyway.

It's a big pot, and you have two backdoor draws. Your ace and j are discounted. Why do you want knock people out, your hand is good if it reaches, and you can drop it on the turn if you miss. I'd want callers here.

Though I've only had a short stint at 1/2 before moving on to 2/4, I didn't really notice any major differences except that there's less fish then at .50/1. Hence, the game is a little tighter and a bit more aggressive pre and post flop(more preflop then post). There are still plenty of bad players, and plenty more weak-tight ones as well. Overall, you won't notice that much of a difference. The only advice I would really give is that table selection is more important then at .50/1, and you will often find yourself at a table consistently folded to the blinds or HU on the flop. For me, 1/2 was a way station for 2/4 and I wanted to move up ASAP.

Congrats on the moveup. I'm sure you'll be successful at 1/2, and you probably won't want to spend too long there.

I just moved up as well. I've got a monstrous .36 BB/100 winrate after 1700 hands. Made quads thrice but lost flush over flush twice, including a hand where I put like 10 bets in (2nd nuts to the nuts).

I haven't noticed much difference, just a little more rockish in places, and aggro in others. Still plenty soft.

I don't see any reason you shouldn't move up full time. Why wouldn't you? You're solid.

I'd agree with most posters that you'll probably want to get 300BB for 2/4 and move it on up. 1/2 is like that period in middle school before you lose your virginity, where you just get good at fooling around. It's not that cool, and you know there are better, more enjoyable things to come, but you should probably do it for a little while anyway.

Having a good day so far, though the cards are running decent. My VPIP has dropped almost naturally, and I'm not sure if I'm just switching to a more natural, TAGGY style of play, or if it's the situations today.
