whats the longest you ever waited for a seat?

i am such an internet poker junkie now, i am beginning to resent the live game. I was waitlisted last week for 2.5 full hours before i got to sit down and play.

And i literally just sat there....cuz i don't like to get involved in video poker or blackjack or any other casino games anymore, as i have found that playing those to pass time to be a big leak in one's game.

I'm sure there are others who have waited longer than that, but don't count the times where you are already in one poker game while waiting for another.

And what did you do?

I waited over 3 hours for a seat at the 7 stud table at Motor City Casino a couple of Fridays ago. I hung out and chatted up the really cute woman that was the security guard responsible for the area.

I waited 4.5 hours at the Borgata on some saturday in August. I only got to play for 1 hour before my friends dragged me off ... stupid surprise birthday parties!

Be friendly with and tip your floorman and they'll get you an open seat ASAP. Waitlists are for non-tippers. Be a tipper.

I left Caesar's In after 3 hours once. It isn't far from my home. I would wait a long time if I had a significant drive. I usually take a poker book and study while I wait.

Ive never even thought of this....Im assuming it only works if you are a regular that they recognize you? And what do they do just come grab you when a seat is open rather than going to the board? Also, how much do you tip, this could be VERY +EV on a busy night when the games are especially juicy. The waitlist is the primary reason that I have come to hate going to canterbury.

If you aren't a regular and aren't on a first name basis with the regular floormen, go up and introduce yourself and thank them for the good work they do. Tip them a $5 chip and tell them you plan on starting to play regularly there and you'd appreciate it if they could get you a seat at whatever limit you play ASAP. Make a habit every time to go to say hi to them or catch them when you're sitting at your table and give them another $5. Five bucks a night is well worth not ever having to wait through the lists.

Do you think this is a good thing? I hate it.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. Actually, I think it's great. It's like the poker version of one of those Disneyland Passport thingies that let you skip the lines for an extra few bucks.
