Looks fine to me, I'd also fold.

Re: Folding AK preflop 25NL

Is the big blind $0.50 or $1.00 though. I know the hand converter displays Paradise's small blind as the big blind.

If the game has $1 big blind, the raise and call are only 5XBB (which may be many mediocre hands at micro-limit Paradise).

Don't know how the PP 25NL players play though. Really just putting in my hand converter comment--is it a 10xBB open or a 5xBB open.

a lot of times when the raise is large like that i see party players holding JJ or QQ

As a newer player I think I understand the reasoning for folding preflop but could you please explain your reasoning with more detail?

i'd push. party 25 players raise some junk hands.

or i'd call. but i wouldn't fold.

How long had you been at the table? Had UTG been pushing his stack around? He's got 5x the second stack, so he can afford to put everyone else to the test with their money early. It's a good way to steal blinds, as it will scare off all but the best hands.

If he's amassed his stack by being a rock, it's an insta-fold. But if he's shown a propensity to bet big PF from any position, I'd call or raise. (If you have him as being a bully, I'd probably push.) There are only two hands that have you worse than ~48%.

I hadn't been at the table very long. Anyway, both players show AQo and split.

Ya Im not folding this at Party 25. Pushing is an option, but I wouldnt, although it certainly would have worked out well for you in this instance. Also, some players raise this much whenever they raise, so it certainly doesnt mean AA or KK. If you hit the flop, you're 95% to be ahead, especially if you hit your A and you have position to win a big pot. If you hit your A and trap a smaller A you have a great chance to double up.

You have one of the best hands in the best position. I'd slap you if I could reach you.

I've seen people raise with mid-pocket pairs that high. I've seen raises with AQo, AJo, A4o. I've seen raises with Q6s.

BAD HERO, BAD!
