How do you play suiteded connectors pre-flop?

I'm thinking of the suited mid- and low- connectors from 98s to 32s. McEvoy and Daugherty don't include them in their playable hands and Reuben and Ciaffone cite calling a raise with 98s if the stacks are deep enough.

Do any of these starting hands play profitably? Which ones? Which circumstances?

Thanks,
Justin

Suited connectors, especially 54 and up, are playable in late position after limpers. In CO or Button I will call with them, (or maybe call a min-raise,) with 3 limpers or more ahead of me. Generally you are looking to flop 2 pair, or a straight or flush draw with them. If you flop one pair dont get attached to your hand as you are often beaten. These hands are most profitable for straights, not flushes, as it seems so many people like to play strange suited crap and once in a while you will lose flush over flush. Losing straight over straight happens less often in my experience.

Hope this is helpful.

Helps a lot.

Thanks,

P.S. I haven't figured out what CO stands for. Although I know it's the seat next to the button.

Thanks, What is the meaning of "Cut Off" regarding positions?

Re: How do you play suiteded connectors pre-flop?

I have just looked at my PT database (very small, ~2000 hands) and I don't play small suited connectors very well. So please take this with a grain of salt . And beware, I play 6 max.

I would play small suited connectors in late possition, I would even call a 3-4xBB raise with them if I have possition and there is a caller or an early limper, I will drop them on the flop if I miss (or maybe take a stab at the pot if have possition). By miss I mean don't get a two pair, a straigt draw, a flush draw or top pair.

From 87s and up I will some times raise in the cut off or on the button, just to mix up my play, you can win big if you flop nice and your opponents put you on a high hand.

Am I a total LAG for playing like this?
