Where Do You Fit In Religion Wise?
Curious as to which of the following slots you most closely fit as to your beliefs.
A. There is a god who worries about us, will answer prayers and who will someday send the Messiah. B. Same as above but he has sent the Messiah already. C. It's one of the two above but I'm not sure which. D. There is a watchful god but no Messiah. E. It's one of the above but I'm not sure which. F. There is a god but he only checks on us occasionally, imparts conciousness, does a few other things, but doesn't make humans on earth anything special in his mind. G. There is a vague sort of god, maybe more than one, nature, truth, beauty geometry, buddha, whatever, but not the specific entity that most Americans believe. H. It's one of the above but I'm not sure which. I. God created the universe and the laws of physics but then left us alone forever and probably couldn't change things anymore if he wanted to. J. There is no God of any sort. K. It's one of the above two but I'm not sure which. I. I have no idea. I don't claim that this list is all encompassing. |

Re: Where Do You Fit In Religion Wise?
While off the question, I find it very amusing that this post you made five days ago:
The contradiction between poker and any specific organized religion is not that the religion forbids poker. Rather it is the fact that to be good at poker (or anything else that doesn't allow illogical thinking, like physics or molecular biology) requires you to have the kind of mind that would find it very difficult to believe the precise facts that most organized religions want you to believe. -- David Sklansky Has not only spawned a number of new threads (with thousands of views!) but also become one of the hottest topics on this entire board. Barring a video of Erin Ness making out with Shana Hiatt, this is THE topic (or group of sub-topics) for some time to come.... Barron Vangor Toth www.BarronVangorToth.com |

[ QUOTE ] I. God created the universe and the laws of physics but then left us alone forever and probably couldn't change things anymore if he wanted to. [/ QUOTE ] I also don't think god, or whatever it was that created the universe is comprehendable to the human psyche. As it most certainly, imo, not of any human form or likeness. I don't think it created the laws of physics. I think the earth and all that followed was accidental and coincidental. Not planned out in advance. Right place, right time. One point is the Earth will cease to exist as we know it. It has a finite lifespan. What then? Would that be god'd punishing us? Some will say it is when it happens, when in fact, it's just this part of the universe running it's course. But when all is said and done, then i choose... I. I have no idea b |
