Fold a set here?

1/2 nl home game. Relevent stacks are MP1 ~75 Button ~240 Me~ 130

Im in the BB with red sixes. MP1 (somewhat LAG, not too bad tho) Limps, button (new player to the game, no reads) makes it 6, i call, MP1 calls,
FLOP: 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] i bet 10, MP raises to 30, button goes all in. I think for a while, and i muck it. Bad fold? (I know the answer, but i want to hear what you all think)

i'd stick it in baby. button has an overpair, mp has a pair with a flush or straight draw.

Button has a Pocket pair probably. He wouldn´t have raised pre flop with 9T. With a set I would have called. You probably still ahead.

Hi ansky,
This generally a terrible fold, as many hands that are raising you could be drawing nearly dead (overpair), and against many that beat you (straights), you have 7 and then 10 outs. Not enough reason to fear an overset here. If it happens, it happens.

Re: Fold a set here?

Well, the results are, mp1 had 78, for top 2 pr, and the button had a9 clubs, for the open draw and nut flush draw-- Which was actually the favorite to win. Mathematically, i should have caled because of ev, but why throw away my whole stack, when im not even 40% to win the hand? (k of clubs on the river, i lose anyway

Who cares about this individual hand....you're playing for the best situations...not the outcomes...

Call, you are making money off his hand even if MP1 has a straight as he will almost definitely call.

Unless you're not properly bankrolled for the game you should call here even if you know that he has A9 of clubs. In the small stack games on party I don't think you would be making much of a mistake if you never folded a set.

Re: Fold a set here?

This is the point, to be properly bankrolled. When you have the pressure of not losing some of your money cause it would hurt your bankroll, it is tougher to call this bets.
You were probably ahead and it is a call.
