Card Player POY Race
To the best I can tell, there are only four players still alive for this prestigious award - everyone's chasing Men Nguyen, and there are three others that are still alive in the WPT Bellagio that have a chance to catch him. John Gale, 19th in the current POY standings, is currently second in chips with about 190 players remaining, and needs a Top-2 finish to surpass Men. Michael Mizrachi and Maciek Gracz are currently 4th and 5th in the standings, respectively, both have a Top-20 chip count, and either would need a Top-5 finish to take home the 2005 honor. Should be an interesting suplot the next few days. Negreanu was so clutch in this tournament last year - could see a similar performance...

I think Mizrachi is going to take this down. He deserves it.

Re: Card Player POY Race
Just great, then we can listen to his annoying, obnoxious friends cheering him on at the final table.

Any of the top 15 could win it with a win in the 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and poor finishes by the leaders.

Re: Card Player POY Race
I heard there's an Atlantic City tournament still to come where you can win POY points, so it's not technically over after the 5 diamond.

Re: Card Player POY Race
John Gale's chipstack is no longer looking too healthy.
