Is anyone actually offended by this term? I don't get it. If you are personally offended or can understand how someone would be offended, please explain.

My understanding is that the reference to Alito was made to suggest that he is very similar to Scalia (conservative, same judicial philosophy, catholic, italian, etc.) How is this offensive? If the only point of comparison was that they were both Italian I could imagine that someone might not like it (still not overly offensive, but, oh well.)

Is this the equivalent of Phil Ivey being the Tiger Woods of poker?

I thought it was obvious that I was referring everyone bitching about the use of the term Scalito...it was a fairly big news story yesterday and today.

I didn't read it as name calling, rather just a marketing/slogan way to say he is a Scalia clone.

If it were coming from anyone other than his detractors I'd withdraw my statement. It doesn't. I won't.

It's the same type of silly attempt at humor you get from Al Franken, who wasn't funny on SNL.

Different strokes for different folks. I find Al Franken extremely funny at times (and extremely un-funny at times.) I would guess that you don't know half the things Al Franken did for SNL --- the skits where he was an actor weren't that funny (Stewart Smalley) his writing, however, was very funny.

Here's an area where you've half-way nailed me cold. I know he wrote some of the SNL material, as did damned near any and everone remotely associated with the show. I don't know to what extent his writing was used.

The very funny part, well you know my thoughts about that.
