10 10 In position with Over card

Commerce $5 $10

Loose player makes it $50 to go in mid late position (he has been making lots of raises) I look down at 1010 and make it $100 to go and he calls.

Flop comes J62 rainbow and its checked to me. I bet $150 and get called.

The turn is again checked to me and I check back.

The river is again blank and my opponent bets $100.

I fold and my opponent shows 99!!! Bad fold?

Raise more preflop; he'll never fold for 50 more.

Do you really think you were worse than 6-1 that you had the best hand there? He definitely seemed ridiculously weak; he would have easily been weak-bluffing the river with overcards, have a lower pp, etc.

I would definitely call vs. a LAGgy player.

Thank you I think I should have called too. However there was a recent discussion on this board regarding AQ vs JJ where 99% of the people on this board said JJ would never call a bet on the turn or river (unless a J hit) if an over card hit the flop and the opponent called the continuation bet on the flop. This struck me as odd, but I am still learning.

PF minraise is bad - raise more, or just call.

You've got a pretty major concept wrong:

One of the main reasons you check the turn IS SO YOU CAN CALL HIS RIVER BET. That's like the whole purpose of checking the turn - he thinks you're weak. Everything worked perfectly in this hand and then you forgot to follow through.

that thread was a wreck. pay no attention to it.

never forget poker is all about pot odds.
in this case, you each put in 100 preflop and 150 on the flop.
now youve got 500 in the pot and he bets 100.
calling 100 to win 600 there is a no-brainer.
if youre hand is good 1 out of 7, you break even... you will win far mpore than this. dont worry about feeling foolish if hes milking you w/ a J or slowplayed set/big pair... the guy bet only 1/5 of the pot, so, if he was trying to get value out of the winner the jokes on him.

LA Poker pro I love you!! The hand was made up to prove a point on the AQ vs JJ thread. An overcard is not going to discourage a river call after an overcard to my pair hits the flop and my continuation bet is called. In this example if my opponent turned over AJ, I lose but did not make a bad call.
