Poker Tracker

Does PT have a stat that tells you the percentage of pots won overall?

I know Party offers this feature, but the percentage only relates to the current session.

I would estimate that I am between 7% and 8%. What is a reasonable number for a 9-10 handed game? I play pretty tight so I'm sure I am lower than most.

Theoretically you should 10% of the pots in a 10 person game if your playing equal poker. But why would you even want to know this. It doesn't help you at all!

I used to think that I should win at least 10%, which as you say is my share. But after giving it more thought I think my win rate should be less than 10%. Just to be clear, I am narrowing the discussion down to limit, say 30/60 limit.

There are a number of reasons for this.

1) The player who is playing 50% of his hands will no doubt win perhaps twice as many hands as a 15% player. That reduces the percentage of winning hands leftover for the rest of the table. Look at it this way. If one guy is winning 20% (this might be a guy playing 60% of his hands) then no matter how solid the rest of the table plays, the other 9 players will have to share the remaining 80%.

2) An accepted axiom of poker is to determine which hands your opponent is playing and then play slightly better hands. This implies that you are probably should be playing slightly fewer hands than your opponents.

3)I know there are different style of play. Some players are very good at exploiting a loose agressive style (Gus H. and Daniel N.). But very few people have the talent to make this style work. My focus is more a tight agress. who plays 30/60 limit. You can play more hands in the smaller games, more limp/multiway pots.

Ok you make sense in your point and your logic makes sense.

I'm still curious, why though?

Don't Gus and N play no limit though?

Yes. You can play a lot more hands in no limit because of the possibility of winning somebody's whole stack. You can not play this way in limit. My guess is that 25% is about as many hands as you can play and be breakeven in a typical 30/60 game. In the smaller games you can play more hands.
