First timer in vegas
 

I play a ton online but have only played at a casino twice, messing around with 3/6...they were horrible...it was great...minus the rake.
I play 1/2 6m online, which I know is probably much tougher than the normal 4-8 or 5-10 game.
Im staying at the Luxor 10/21-24, Ive got about 1200.00 for my online bankroll right now. I really dont want to take more than I have to from my bankroll.
Me and my wife only have about a grand extra in spending money after the hotel/flight. She said that she doesnt see us spending that much at all since two of the three days we'll be at a wedding/sightseeing, Most of the rest of the time will be for poker. (Including the wee hours of the night when shes sleeping...sshh dont tell) How much do you think I should take out of Bankroll vs. spending cash to be somewhat comfortable at 4/8 when Im there, I really want to be able to fully replenish my online roll when I get back. Im thinking maybe 2-300 from spending cash and the same from bankroll....Is this a bit thin for this level live for 2 days of playing? Im a decent player, just trying to figure out my odds on risk of ruin for the trip.

It all depends on how you do the first day. If you lose 2 racks,you're broke. Do you want to leave yourself short stacked for the entire trip? Or go balls to the wall and go for the wins?

It's a little thin, for sure, especially for someone that hasn't had much live experience. The reason I say that is that you get less hands per hour live, if you get stuck yo ucan be tempted to start forcing your play. Better to feel comfortable with a little cushion. Bring $500 and you may be more comfortable, and that makes a difference.

As for the spending money, it's tough to tell if $200 in pocket money is going to be enough - cash spends fast and easy in LV. Are you renting a car or taking cabs? Are you paying for everything for your girlfriend? Are you using cash for food or paying by credit?

Just played about 20 hours at the Luxor this past weekend. The 2-4 is the softest game I have ever seen in Vegas or on the East Coast. When you get to the poker room, ask the floor how to qualify for the Sunday "most wins tournament" that occurs between 4-7 pm. It's basically whoever drags the most pots during this timeframe wins 300+. If you can't qualify, all the good players loosen way up because the EV of chasing longshot rivers is +++ and you can make a ton of $$$. Avoid the $50 NL game, nothing but all-in coin flips. I called a $45 all-in with AQ suited - saw KJ off and lost when a J hit and I didn't improve. Winner thought he was a WSOP bracelet holder so I asked him if he wanted to run the board 5 more times for $45 each time with the same cards - he declined.
