Pop it! Don't give any "free" rides with this hand. You're in good position to isolate against the BB. There's only a one card straight possibility (top end) and no suit yet. Take control of this hand while you can. The turn will make all the diff with this hand. Most likely a flush draw, str draw and a low. Knock out any weak low draws (they will be better than yours most of the time). If you get it heads-up, you're probably about a 3/2 fav to win.

The raise is the only play that seems even remotely appropriate to me.

I agree with the other 2 posts. Might as well try to isolate while still on the cheap street. You'll have position and a shot at a free river if the turn's a stinker.

If you're gonna play it, you gotta raise it.

Raising to isolate the better is your best option. You have top two pair and are likely ahead for high unlesss you are up against a set. You must charge the low hands the maximum to draw. If the big blind is betting a high hand and everyone else folds your 27 may take the low half.

hey all

thanks for the comments. i thought this situation was marginal but i guess the best play is really clear. a few other questions:

what if a low comes on the turn? should I check and call?

in the actual hand i did raise the flop and had one coldcaller behind me. Then BB called. The turn came 2c for a board of A6K2 rainbow.

Then BB bet again. What do i do here?

i think the low draw coming in devalues my hand a lot, but i dont know if i should still try to showdown for 2BBs since the board is still very dry for high possibilities.

If you're in a very loose game where a flop raise is unlikely to knock anyone out, do you still raise, or wait until the turn?

How much does pot size affect your decision here?

A call is better on the turn since the duece has come. It's most likely that you have no scoop chances ,& there are no threatening looking draws available to beat you on the high side.Let the player behind you come in with his low or worse high hand.

I still raise on the flop. I want to charge the maximum for the low draws to make their hand.

I would check and call. You are only playing for half the pot. If you had the best high hand on the flop it is likely that you still do.
