Keeping secrets with a protected muck

Hi,

So a game I play in has the rule that anyone at the table can ask to see the hole cards of anyone that went to showdown. Semi-standard, I understand.

The catch is that some dealers have what amounts to a "protected muck."
For example, one dealer keeps the muck in a neat pile right in the corner beside his chip rack, somewhat guarded by his arm.

Sometimes I want my hand to go in the muck and be unrecoverable, so people will stop asking to see my cards every time.
But I can't do this unless I sit in the seat right next to the protected muck.

Do I just live with this, or can I do anything?

Thanks!

tell the floor that a person is asking too much and he/she will probably warn them not to do it as much or only let them do it a certain amount. If this priveledge is abused the floor has a right to take it away.

The rule is nitty, but you have good dealers who are doing the right thing so don't complain.

I've actually had dealers fish my cards out of the muck before, which really pissed me off since he failed to protect the muck to begin with. A good dealer has his hand over the muck as soon as someone says, "I want to see that hand."
