22\'s - 99 overpair on the button

How do you guys play these medium pockets on the button in situations like this where there's a moderate raise and you flop an overpair?

Re: 22\'s - 99 overpair on the button

Bump - this is my first hand post, did I do something wrong? Might be a boring hand, sorry -- I studied up on push/fold strategy but have realized I'm lost a lot in the early-game.

Any help would be appreciated!

I push here too, especially after they called the pf raise.

I don't often play 9s for overpair value in a raised pot preflop.

man, I need to pay more attention when posting... At this level, I limp 9's preflop and probably fold preflop to this raise. Strategy that has helped me immensely comes from this post...

This seems like sage advice, I think I probably should have folded preflop.

However, for the purpose of discussion, what if I'd held TT or JJ? I'm assuming we're probably not folding either of those, are we? So say we're in the same spot, same flop, same flop bet from villain. What then?

go to above link... play 22-JJ for set value this early.. that's it QQ-AA reraise preflop

Re: 22\'s - 99 overpair on the button

Yeah, I've read and studied Aleo's guide. Personally, I find it a little bit weak-tight for today's 22's (though it still forms the basis of my early-game strategy). The endgame edge isn't quite as large as it used to be...I don't mind playing somewhat-aggressively with JJ-TT (and have had pretty good success doing so). I'm certainly not in the habit of folding either of them in position to one <4xBB raise.

Does everyone believe JJ-TT should be limped and played for set value, or is the above the opinion of this particular poster?

If you don't mind playing JJ or TT in the spot described above preflop, how are you then playing either JJ or TT ON the flop in the OP?
