$100NL AQ hand, good fold?

Its 6 handed, Villain has $110, I have him covered. Villain is a solid player, he may be slightly on tilt after I busted him with my straight on the river a few hands ago.
Folded round to Villain on the button who raises to $5
I call in SB with AQ, BB folds.
Flop is A 10 3 rainbow, he bets pot I call. (Maybe I should have raised to see where I was?)
Pot is $35, turn is J.
He bets $25, I think for a bit and fold.
My reason being, I only beat a bluff, or possibly A8/9. Good fold?

Also any comments on my posting style are welcome, I'm not sure how clear/well explained it is.

a solid player also means he's aware of position, and would raise with mediocre hands like a9, a8 in position folded around to him. I might even reraise preflop with a hand like AQ (as the button, he doesn't expect the blinds to reraise him) and see where you're at...maybe reraise to 15 and take the lead in the hand.

I think it was a good fold - of course it depends (as it always does) on your opponents hand range here - but if it is significantly wide, then you could consider a reraise preflop as the other poster suggested.

You should also have considered leading on the turn, and folding to a raise.

I would not recommend the flop raise - all you do is build a pot with you out of position. There are no draws, you fold worse hands, and lose more to better hands. Also what have you acheived if your opponent just smooth calls your raise? Nothing. Just call and maybe lead out on a safe looking turn.

Cheers!

I dont like this. Most of guys call cb with alot worse hands like mid pair etc. So his bet on turn does not mean he can beat a strong ace.

Unless you have seen villain fire two barrels with crap before then I don't see you beating anything he holds. Fold looks fine.

i would make it 15 pf.

as played i like the flop but would lead the turn for 20ish an fold to a raise.

Re: $100NL AQ hand, good fold?

because his range of hands for opening on the btn should be you huge and we are way ahead of that range. it also means you take the lead in the hand and define villains hand a bit more which means less guessing games on flops such as this one.
