Flopped my set...could I have gotten the rest of his chips? ($20+2)

This is the first hand I've posted. If it is mundane, boring, stupid, or lame, feel free to tell me in as acrid and scathing manner as you find appropriate.

Was there some way I could've gotten more chips out the villain? I hit my set and I want to extract. I've only recently moved up to $20+2. My guess is that he didn't have much value with his raise.

Agreed.

I think you should raise flop or bet turn here, as he could have a draw that'll pay you.

I do admit, and knew at the time, that I was gambling a bit there.

So I limped under the gun for t30, looking to see a cheap flop, which seemed reasonable at the time. There was another caller for t30 and then the raise for t130, plus the blinds for another t45. So I was looking at calling t100 and the pot was t235 at that point.

I thought there was excellent chance, given the action so far at the table, that he just had overcards or trash, and that if I didn't hit my set I would fire once at the flop and try to take it down; if I got significant resistance I could get away. If I hit the set I would soften up a little and trap an overpair and double up. It all seemed reasonable at the time.

I have been changing my game a little bit to include more trapping and to deviate a little bit from ABC poker, and this prompted my call here getting a little better than 2-1 pot odds.

When you flop a set, he has an overpair. When you hit nothing, he has two big cards.

You should be folding this PF. Second best is pushing. Calling is bad. If you are calling here constently then this is a big leak in your game.

BTW cant get paid off when villian doesnt have anything.

So would you say the limp is bad, or is it just calling the raise? It was pretty dumb in retrospect, it was gambling with 1/7 of my stack there.

Calling the raise is horrible.

If it had been T60 to you then sure, but not T100.
