getting rid of small bills at the cage

is this considered bad form? i have way too many $20s and would like to change them into $100s at the cage. i'm uncomfortable doing this at my bank. but i wonder if the cage wouldn't like this. i could always buy big chips with them, stick them in my pocket, and then cash them out later. is that also bad form? i'm sure the cage staff is trained to look out for people washing their money. not that i'm doing that. it's just that these local cardrooms are always cashing me out in $20s so when i go to AC i look to get rid of them. yes, i'm also buying in with the $20s but i got more.

The cage doesn't care. Ask for 100s.

I don't know if they'll care either way about just changing bills for you, but you could always ask for $300 in red and $700 in green if you're gonna go play a $300 buy in game, and when you're done just cash them both in, definitely can't have a problem doing that.

Don't buy blacks (or higher) and then not play with them. This can cause huge issues for you with security. Just ask the cage to change them when you're buying in for your normal game, worst that can happen is they'll say no. You can also request higher denoms when you cash out. I always change the $50s cardrooms try to pawn off on me right away.

I get my money from the ATM, it comes in 20's. I get to the room and buy what I need in chips. When I cash out, I pull out the extra 20's and ask for 100's. They never have a problem.

I bet they'd have more of a problem if you pulled out a bunch of 100's and wanted 20's in exchange - there are a lot more counterfeit 100's out there than there are counterfeit 20's.

If it is a decent sized casino, they probably have more 100s than they know what to do with, and won't have a problem with an exchange.

I ran into a problem once in Indiana, when I had about $3000 in 20s on me. The cage wouldn't do an exchange, and would only sell me a rack or two of red chips ($10/$20 being the highest limit poker game being spread at the time). So, I just slid over to the roulette table, which always has large stacks of idle high denomination chips. Threw down my money, and watched the dealer count and spread 150 20s, and then try to stuff wads of it down the drop slot. I requested black chips, since this casino is touchy and questions you when cashing in chips larger than 100s. I toked the dealer $5, and slipped the stack and a half of black in my pocket and walked away.

After I was done playing poker, cashed in the black at the cage and requested 100s naturally.

stick all the $20 bills into a $5-10 slot machine in the high rollers area. then press cashout and get a bar coded ticket. take that to cashier and ask for $100's back.

I assume he is trying to change over $500,000 in 20s into 100s.
