Stud8 - Shorthanded play

At the last table I was at, there was a span where there were only 5 players in the hand (there were some empty seats and a player sitting out). Are there any good general adjustments to make when the table is short-handed?

I would guess things like "high hands go up in value" because lows come in less frequently (because there are fewer lows to begin with). In general, I would think that you should be a little looser and a little more aggressively.

But it seems that the adjustment to stud is different than in Hold'em because there is proportionally less dead money in the pot, so that the bring-in becomes a "larger" bet. So there's less value to becoming a LAG in stud compared to hold'em.

You're right. Proper adjustment depends a whole lot on BI/ante ratio.

pairs increase in value, and lows that have no high potential decrease in value .. i'll play small pairs with small kickers which are usually a piece of cheese in full rings. But I wouldn't get carried away, because I still muck small & big pairs if an ace raises. I still don't play ak2 offsuit unless it's on a steal - does anyone find this hand to have value shorthanded?

AK2o? I dont see how this hand has use short or full. It's trash except on a steal IMO.
