River decision

I sat down a few hands ago, but pokertracker tells me that villain is very loose, with moderate aggression. So, river decision-time.

Re: River decision

From what you wrote sounds like he is your typical party $200NL fish right?

If so I say pop-em, especially if your being as aggressive as your preflop raise leads me to believe. Fish pay off on far more occasions then they have the goods.

This wakeup is odd (I wouldn't be terribly surprized to see A5 here from a bad player).. When bad players make odd raises on the river warning bells goes off in my head, especially if he is moderately aggressive.

If villain is bad enough to consider AJ as the nuts here tho, you might stack him. Another possibility is 5x, slowplayed until "just the right time" ofcourse. Read-dependant, but atleast call.

Isolating here is a no-brainer, IMO.

Call the river.

You don't even consider pushing? How come?

Exactly what I was thinking. I usually try to get as much money in with straights and flushes against poor opponents, even on paired boards, because I know they can't let go of trips. But this check-raise really threw me off.

Pretty much, yeah.

You don't think his check-raise is somewhat odd here? I really have no idea what his hand range could be, since I see this move so seldom.

So your isolating because 'pokertracker tells me'. I believe you should only isolate if you've seen villain play bad enough poker for yourself.

Anyhow, villians line here is synonymous with 5x, so I call.

Someone with stats 50/10/1 over a couple of hundred hands very rarely plays good poker. You are missing up on a lot of money if you don't target these.

Anyhow, villians line here is synonymous with 5x, so I call.

If you think that is his hand, and you think he will call with it (and he very likely will), a push would be the correct play.
