How do I encrypt my wieless network?

When I first set up my wireless network I was having problems getting it to work, I finally got it set up but it is open so anyone could use it.

Lately sometimes I have been losing my signal or getting a weak signal so I think maybe something is interferring with it, or maybe someone else is using it?

Anyway would making this a secure network help?

Thanks

How far away is your computer from the signal. They usually don't go very far (200 ft?), even less if they have to travel through walls etc. Encypting your connection wont help your signal but it is a good idea.

What wireless kind of router are you using? Setting up encryption is a must. You don't want others getting onto your network. If you don't want 128bit encryption, at least turn on 64bit encryption. 128bit slows your pc down a little bit more than 64 bit.
