Copags Slippery?

I bought a set of Copags from 5stardeal. I've played a couple of games now, and the cards are still super slick. This is to the point that when a person places the cards down in front of the next dealer that many of the top cands slide off or almost of the top of the deck. The whole deck itself doesn't always want to stay even.

Is this normal with Copags, or did I possible get a defective deck. Is it something that stop in time as the cards get more and more boken in. I've never seen anything like this with the KEMS or Gemaco cards I've played with in casino.

I'm not as forgiving as the other guys. I was 2 sets to be reviewed for the site and tried on two different nights to use them for a tournament. They were INSANELY slick. I had experienced poker players with 15+ years of playing mis-handling the decks. No....thumbs down to Copags and their crazy slickness. I'll go with something else. I've never had this severe of problem with any other card...paper or plastic.

That's the exact reason I HATE copags. I really do not like them at all. Gotta love the KEM, just wish they were a little cheaper.

You'll be fine.

I have been playing with COPAGS for a while, and I had actually forgotten about this. You reminded me that when I first got them, they were exactly as you described. But that went away after a few home games and we're OK now.

If you're getting Copags and you are worried about slickness, pick up the Signature style Copag's (see below).

http://www.chessset.com/copagsignature.html

These are NOT slippery, and actually have a grippy texture that other Copag styles AND Kem's just do not have. If you buy them and disagree with my "feel" assesment, I'll buy them off of you as you can never have too many (I have 2 set ups (4 decks) now with 1 still sealed). They only come in Bridge width and super index, but I have not found ANY plastic card (Kem's, other Copag's or Dal Negro Grand Slam's) with this feel in bridge width. It would be great if Pokerchipsreview would do a write on this particular card as it would be great to have it documented that all Copag's are not created equal. And I do agree that the other Copag's that I have experience with (1546s and Masters) are somewhat slippery.

Now if you're a poker width man, I say go with Dal Negro Freedom's hands down. They have a lot of the stiffness and feel of a paper card but they're plastic. These cards are great. They're not as flexible as Copag's and Kem's (or even the Dal Negro bridge size card called Grand Slam's) but they can still take a bend like a plastic card should and even the veteran poker players (who are anti plastic) like them.

Which decks of Copags did you have this problem with?

I got a set from ebay.

They were slick as hell at first. When you put the deck on teh table, invariably the top 3-6 cards would all slide.

After a good nite with them on the table, they are getting better, I can tell the slipperiness of them is wearing off, and I like them more and more the more I play with them.
