Finally Jeff Saturday gets to go. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, good to see that. Tarik Glenn got jobbed... From the Indy Star "The NFL initially informed the Colts early today that offensive tackle Tarik Glenn had been selected for a second straight trip to Honolulu, where the game will be held Feb. 12. However, league officials discovered a computer error that resulted in Glenn instead being a first alternate." Saw it discussed on NFL Live... Dungy was more pissed then I'd ever seen. I wonder what will come of it. |

Re: Pro Bowl
The Seattle Seahawks have 5 players, all on offense
Shaun Alexander Matt Hasselbeck Walter Jones Mack Strong Steve Hutchinson They also have 3 alternates: Lofa Tatupu Robbie Tobek Josh Brown |
Re: Pro Bowl
I know the Jets stink this year but how in the world can you not give Jonathan Vilma an invite? He won ROY last year and now he leads the NFL in tackles.
Al Wilson? Are you kidding me? This guy has less than a hundred tackles. Erik Coleman the starting safety for the Jets has more tackles! And I know you can argue Vilma leads the league on because the Jets offense puts their defense on the field wayyyy too much but I mean c'mon. Surely someone agrees with me here? |
Re: Pro Bowl
I Agree with you about Vilma, however this is not voted on by people who know a lot about football it is voted on by random fans, so it's irrelevant.
Also if Vilma made than a Broncos fan would be complaing about Al Wilson If Alex Brown made it a Giants fan would be complaing about Osi not making it, etc. Often there are close battles and whoeever loses becomes a huge snub, and who ever wins becomes a mediocre player who shouldn't have made the team. |
Re: Pro Bowl
Brian Moorman is a great punter, but it's apt that he's the only Bill going. Pretty much sums up the season. I say this every year, but there's always next year...

I know the Jets stink this year but how in the world can you not give Jonathan Vilma an invite? He won ROY last year and now he leads the NFL in tackles. [/ QUOTE ] The Tackles stat is misleading. Vilma is having a good season and may have deserved to go to the Pro Bowl, but he leads the league in tackles because he's the MLB on a team that's always playing from behind and has a D-line built to rush the passer, so he has a ton of opportunities. If Wilson and Vilma switched teams, they'd probably switch tackle totals, as well. |

Please. Of course tackle stats can be misleading, but to suggest that a 145-67 difference is simply the result of their respective systems and situtations is ridiculous. [/ QUOTE ] Normally you'd be right, but this is an extreme case. The Broncos have defended against 307 runs, fewest in the NFL. The Jets have defended against 474 runs, most in the NFL. Moreover, the Jets face an unusually large number of runs up the middle, since they have two good DEs (Abraham and Ellis) and are usually facing an offense that's trying to grind the clock. For the same reason, a larger percentage of the passes they face are likely to be short ones that are often stopped by the LB corps, while Denver must have faced a higher percentage of downfield passes as they are usually playing from ahead. In this circumstance, I think a 78 tackle difference can certainly be explained by situation and system. |
Re: Pro Bowl
So since tackles (which aren't an official NFL stat) weren't used to select Al Wilson, why is he on the team instead of Vilma?
|
Re: Pro Bowl
::Shrug::
Probably better name recognition, and being on a better team. |
