Bet if you think you\'ll chop?

You're heads up on the river with a board of AK995. You have A7 and you think your relatively unknown opponent has an A as well. AK, A9 and any 9 seems really unlikely based on his betting.

First to act, do you bet the river? Why or why not?

Given your read (that we are not behind) I'd bet this almost every time. I don't want to feed the rake, but I think there is a chance that the villain will lay down a chopping hand. If I check, he doesn't have an opportunity to make a mistake. If I bet, I give him that chance. I think that in general, the odds of getting an ace to fold here are not good, but they are not zero either. For example, he may fear trips or being outkicked (not realizing that his kicker doesn't play). From a rake perspective, it depends on whether or not 2 more bets will increase the rake, and also on how big the pot is relative to the size of the rake increase, but in general, I think I ignore the rake effects of these situations.
