My Favorite Hand of the Week

Table: Tight. 3-4 to the flop. For $4-8 this is unbelieveable, I suppose this is what I get for becoming an afternoon player. To my right we have the uni and young kids, they are all rocks, Weak-Tight to the Max. On my left are the Manila all stars (Its a 7up game similar to hold'em) These guys are excellent card players but have not yet fully adapted to this new game. Table is very tough for this limit.

Villain: Good Hand reader, Too loose PF not Agg enough, and misses too many value bets, still a winning player.

My Image: They know me, they know I win, But they think I'm too Aggressive.

$4-8 Live

Hero has A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] in MP1
2 folds, Hero calls, MP2 calls, fold, CO calls, 2 folds, BB checks.

Flop (4) 4SB Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
Hero checks, MP2 checks, CO bets, BB folds, Hero raises, fold, CO calls
[I C/R because I wanted MP2 out, and wanted to freeze up CO on the turn unless I improved. I intende to check it down UI, because Co wont fold TP and won't bet until the river in most circumstances fearing Two Pair. Unhinged?]

Open-limping in MP with AJ should cure them of that misconception.

You really need to raise preflop. This hand plays out completely differently. As played the check raise is terrible as you don't have the equity in this pot and as you have already said you have zero FE against pairs. The only benefit of this play is for a free card OOP, but the benefit of this is outweighed by the other overcall you might pick up and the times CO doesn’t check the turn.

They'll be cured, at least, until this:

I don't like the pf limp, and the way it played out I don't think the pot size justifies the fancy c/r.

i raise PF, the way you played it you can probly fold on the flop

am i right in thinking villain has something when he bets?

i think calling is better than raising, CO wont fold top pair, you have 4 clean outs that are not getting odds to draw, but want as many players in as possible if they are going to draw, i dont think MP2 is really tainting your ace outs, why do you want him out?

do you think your ahead here?

i get the impression that CO has top pair when he bets a lot from your description of him, why do you want to check it down on the end?

Do we really think Openraising AJ in MP1 is a good idea with all the rocks behind me? Perhap they will fold AT, but they aren't good enough to fold AQ and other hands that dominate me. with AJ that early I would rather call Preflop, and then give myself the opportunity to C/R the flop.

I feel I do have odd here. He will not fold his TP, he will call down when I hit, Therefore I have around 5 outs. that is enough to call. The C/R was purely to slow him down and give me a free card.

Maybe not PF - but most rocks will give up on the flop with unpaired overs. You'll take down a lot of pots against this player type when they miss the flop.
