Hello my 2+2 Mentors,

What do you do when you have ... lots of potential but no results.

I should note that I'm a losing player with AKs lately.
I've been going over the AKs posts on the forum and I think I overplay AKs by a wide margin.


3/6 600NL

Hero (18/9) (VP$IP/PFR) has $600. Villan is a winning player 30/12 who has me covered.

Hero has AcKc UTG+1.

I’m mainly here to beat up on the BadBB who is a 48/7 who is throwing money away.

UTG folds
Hero bets $24.
UTG+3 folds
MP1 calls $24 (no reads)
MP2 folds
Villan Calls $24
Folds to BadBB who calls $24.

Pot = $103

Okay what do I do here?
I have 3 callers I’m in the worst position but I have TPTK and a nut flush draw.

I decide to bet the pot since I want to get the hand over with soon since my position sucks. Hopefully he BadBB will call.

Hero Bets $103
MP1 folds
Villan calls $103
BadBB folds.

I bet half the pot (is this a mistake with TP TK?)

pf and flop ok, c/c turn, c/c or c/f river depending on odds he gives you.

Half potting turn STINKS. Either check to keep the pot small and see what people behind you do, or bet enough to fully commit yourself by potting or overpotting to price out all the draws.

On the turn you make your decision, you're either going to the felt with the hand or you're bailing.

I'm not saying this is an easy spot, but 1/2 potting b/c you're not sure is not the answer.

Thanks for your input.

I'm trying to get a handle on pot size control via bet size.

I don't really understand why half potting the turn stinks.

I half potted since I figured there are no draws that I'm really afraid of.

I'm obviously not concerned about the flush draw and it seems very unlikely that there is straight. Plus there are no overcards to my aces. So I figured it's partially a value bet and partially a semi-bluff.

Is my logic screwed up?

Because he will bet both weaker and stronger hands, If you fire again on that turn I think only hands that are beating you call or come over the top.

How about checkraise pushing the flop? That's a pretty all-star move.

Edit: Or bet the flop like you did and checkraise push the turn.

I like bet 3/4 pot on flop and check raise all in on turn.
If he checks behind on the turn, thats fine also.
