I've played with him for a few months now and he is generally tight until he builds a stack and then he starts to loosen up and become tricky. He'll bet or raise if he senses weakness or thinks he can take down the pot.

I'm not sure what his view of me is, other than I think he thinks I over play big pairs (I used to, but have worked hard at changing it), my raising standards are lower than his (I'll raise AJ in late position, even with limpers), and I get married to marginal hands (like AJ, but I am working hard on this one too).

Hero $150
Old Pro $1000

Hero raises to $25 (varies between 3xBB and 5xBB), folded to Old Pro on the button who calls, SB & BB fold.

Pot: $50

Hero leads for $50 (probably viewed as a standard continuation bet, Old Pro might also think that Hero does not have a K because of bet size),

Old Pro asks Hero how much he has left and then raises Hero all-in.

I would call. I already have half my stack in the pot and am getting 3:1 odds on a call. He might be on a flush draw, AKo, etc. Seems like he would have raised KK preflop.

I concur. With the huge difference in stack sizes and his lack of a preflop raise, chances are you are ahead and he is just trying to intimidate you.

He might have flopped a set, but there are a lot of other possible hands he has too. You have $75 left and $75 in the pot...easy call.

So far, the responses have been to call and the reason is that Hero's stack size is small relative to the pot and the Old Pro.

What if Hero's stack was the same as the Old Pro?
How would Hero's strategy change?

I still like a call here. You might be beat but you have a few outs. He hasnt indicated much strength so he probably doesnt have KK. The underset is possible... but really, there are not too many flops that dotn contain an A that are better for your hand.

Easy call given your stack size.

Now assuming you had a 1K stack, I'd fold here.

What if you had the old pro covered?

Well, if the old pro bets ~$1000 into a ~$100 pot and all I have is an overpair, I probably fold unless you've seen him do this to others with pure flush draws (not a pair and a draw), TPWK, or an underpair. Without a read, or at least a strong suspicion that he's running over you, I'd fold.

However, given the relative stacks in the hand in question, I think calling is best. There is at least 2:1 on your money to call the all in reraise, and you're probably good more than 33% of the time.

The vote is 22-1 on a call... dont see how you can consider folding in this raised pot.
