Non Poker Celebrity Victories in the WSOP
 

Jennifer Tilly's victory in the Womens Hold Em event this year garnered quite a bit of media coverage due to her notoriety as an actress. Ben Affleck's win in the California Poker Championship last year captured quite a bit of attention as well.

I was in a bar recently watching a rebroadcast of the 1997 WSOP main event. After Gilbert Gottfried won this event there was nary a mention of it in the press afterward.

Poker in 1997 was not the mania that it is today but you would think that a comedian competing against grizzled poker veterans would have warranted some attention.

Sir, I belive you are on more drugs than the actual winner of the 1997 ME.
By the way, is the Eric Bischoff that finished 9th in the $500 buy-in event the guy from the WWE?
