I think this is a big leak in my game. When an opponent just flat calls my flop bet I have no idea where I'm at. On this particular hand the ace was pretty bad card, but it really felt weak to check fold. How do you handle this types of situations?

I think it is a pretty easy check/fold. What exactly did you put your opponent on at the turn that you were beating? You bet strongly enough at the flop that he probably had to call you with at least a T or a flush draw with 2 overs, of which one would very likely be an A. Also, your more than pot-sized all-in looks a little suspect and will only be called by a better hand a large percentage of the time.

Check fold.

If button didn't have a pair of 8s beat on the flop, what did he call your flop bet with?? An ace, probably.

You played your 8s strong preflop and strong on the flop and button was unimpressed. This should worry you. Button has put in 325 chips. With what? 77? KQ? Probably something better than that...

Don't avoid the correct action because it "feels weak". You can check/fold and still have plenty of chips left. Wait for a better (or more desperate) situation to put all your chips in.
