It's not going to happen. You're going to see taxes raised under the guise of "tax code reform" to attempt to compensate for the massivy disparity between spending and revenue. Spending, of course, will increase as allways.

You'll see a PR attempt at reforming Soc Sec which will amount to nothing.

Bush clearly isn't a fiscal reformer. His creation out of whole cloth of a brand new entitlement coupled with his massive increases in spending should have made this clear to everyone.

I dearly hope there weren't many Bush voters who were under the impression that he was going to fall on the ground and a fiscal conservative was going to pop out of his stomach ala "Alien" and suddenly change fiscal policy in the Federal Government.

He has the political muscle to tackle Soc Sec and Medicare reform, but there's nothing to suggest he has the inclination.

I don't think anyone thought Bush was going to reform spending. I wouldn't be so strongly for Bush if it wasn't for Kerry. Their were alot of ABB people out there, but I was ABK. Bush's spending does trouble me. Clinton spend 78 Billion on his war, yet we didn't have this massive

I find the assumption that Kerry would have spent more than Bush a little confusing. There's absolutely nothing to indicate that would have been the case.

You must not have drank the special pre-election kool-aid.

Remember, Bush now has a mandate from the people.
Expect his spending, and things like John Ascroft "enforcing" laws, right wing nut case appointments, etc. to start looking like something out of a Girls Gone Wild Video.

After all, the American sheep agreed by a majority vote, they fully approve everything Bush has turned into a disaster so far, and hope it continues.

However, I suspect that the next four years are more likely to resemble religious crusades and not fiscal conservativism.

Look for a) full fledged jihad against Islam b) all fronts attack on abortion (FDA, Courts) c) trasfer of federal tax dollars to the churches (faith initiatives, school vouchers)

I'd say that if Bush only manages to avoid creating new long term entitlements, makes spending growth cuts, and enacts further tax reduction and reform, then Bush will have done enough to cement his place as the top conservative President of the modern movement.

Conservatives aren't going to get a perfect President. Especially when having to compromise with 500+ porkers on Capitol Hill, something has to give. Bush chooses to give in on spending, relying on *opposition* cries about the deficit to be the break on spending. These four years of Bush haven't been a bad example of starving the beast I think.

So as long as the temporary tax cuts are made permanent, and some more tax reform comes in, we should be set.

Conservatives who hate Bush should also hate Reagan by the way, so if you like the latter but not the former, re-evaluate your position on spending and deficits.

I have no clue... the only time I was typing about atheism is when I was responding to the gay marriage thread. That post is really botched up and I don't know how it got that way. It's like part of what I posted in another thread came into this thread. That is very very odd.

What I meant to say is that Clinton spent almost as much on his war (78 Billion) as Bush is in Iraq (88 Billion). The amazing difference is that Clinton did it with a budget surplus.

In response to Smasharoo, my post was botched somehow. I was simply stating that I am so strongly for Bush because of ABK motivations caused Kerry's voting history, Congressional testimony, and numerous other defense issues.
