I was talking to a friend (a very good self taught player) about how he plays king high flushes. He said against the average player he doesn't like to play it as fast as I do. I am just wondering how some of you guys would have played this hand.

Although it may be closer than that, because a set/small flush would be very likely to reraise the flop. Plus the biggest flush he can have is the 9 high flush.

That said, I can't imagine getting away from it. At least you've left yourself an out! [img]/images/graemlins/shocked.gif[/img]

This is a very easy call. Any typical 32/5 opponent would play 89s just as easily as A-x suited. In addition, he could very well be trying to "protect his set" or aggressively playing A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].

Besides, if you aren't playing K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] for flush value, then you shouldn't be paying to see a flop with that hand in the first place.

I thought I would try to bring this post back to life before I go to bed. The fact that he is a rock is what makes this difficult to me.

No I think this is an awful call, especially with the fact that he is a rock. No rock is going to push with a 9 high flush... at best, especially if he has any respect for you and the fact that you came in UTG. Even if he isn't a rock, most people who are going to push at all with a 9 high flush as opposed to calling it down are going to do it on the flop as opposed to giving a free card. I think this is a 100% fold... especially at a full ring game as opposed to short handed.
