What would you do?

Even though I didn't do it, I felt at the time I was playing this incorrectly. Should I have reraised this flop or just folded. I figured I would stay to see if I could hit the gutshot even though I was not getting right odds. After I misplayed this hand I really felt the air go out of my balloon. I had really fought hard to get to the level I was at, grinding for two hours. I didn't get over 2000 chips until well past an hour into this thing. These are the dumb mistakes that kill a tourney.

I would appreciate any help I can get. thanks in advance you guys are really helpful.

Re: What would you do?

I'd say you misplayed it quite a bit.

Preflop, a hand like AT is a good hand to take down the blinds, not get mixed up into a big hand. Raise atleast 2.5 the BB, and most likely 3xBB here.

Flop. Well, gives you a draw. But if you hit your ace, you still have no idea whether you are ahead or behind. I dont mind the call here, and would say of any street, this was decent.

Turn. Yuck. You hit another bunch of outs. But get bet into again. If you call here, and hit your heart, you think he's going to pay you off? Why not raise here? See what he really has? You have about 14 real outs as it doesnt appear BB has a set. I'd probably raise to 2k on the turn.

River. Well, you turned into a calling station, and a raise here probably is going to get called by any Q, and most any J, so now you have to fold or go balls to the wall and raise all-in, which is an awful play.

Re: What would you do?

The problem with raising to exactly 2000 on the turn, is it's really quite a disaster to get reraised allin with so many outs and only one card to come.

Preflop I agree that raising to 800 is weak. Don't minraise preflop in this situation, make it instead 1000-1300 depending on your feel.
