Why do bad games exist???

I just had this thought, and it made me think and post. It is rare that I will sit in a bad game. I like to think of myself as a pretty good player. I play a good deal of home games, which are tough to beat, and I am quite happy with my results. That being said, if I had alternatives I would never play in these home games. In addition, when I have to hanker down and make some cash, online is the safest source.

So anyhow, it got me thinking. When I decide to go to a B&M casino, I usually head to Atlantic City. I will typically play $7.50-$15.00, $10-$20, or $15-$30(If I am feeling froggy and the game is good). But, if the game is no good, I'm up and out. There's just too many games going on to sit in a rock garden(between the TAJ, BORGATA, and TROP). So this got me thinking, wouldn't other "good" players also get up and leave the game??? Are these players good enough to be good, but not enough to realize they are populating a rock garden? Do they think they are better than the very good players who are in the game? Do they just not care?

Of the hundreds of players I've played against I can think of three who may be excellent in these games. One is tight-aggressive with excellent hand reading abilities who has read just about every book out there. One is loose-agressive with excellent hand reading abilities and doesn't believe in books. One is just the luckiest mofo I have ever seen. Just some thoughts...

Yes.

Yes.

Yes, they do not care.

I think people have their ego tied into being able to beat a tough game. Some also are also members of the "it's impossible to beat a table of 9 morons" camp. Most of those folk can't beat a table of any 9 other opponents, but but some are actually solid, despite shunning the most profitable games.

Most bad games turn good quickly. I was in a 10/20 at Foxwoods recently which was filled with tight regulars. Three of them were talking about how bad the game was and they all changed tables. Three new players came in and the game became great. Meanwhile the game they went to was not so good.

I know sometimes, I will stick with a tough game because I want to learn from it. I think I am pretty good at getting money from the any two cards will do crowd. I know I need work at taking money from good players.

Plus it's just the law of inertia. I'm here, I have my drink, and I just paid my blind, why would I move?
