5/10 Party hand......standard?

6-max, 6 players

Button ~$2500
BB ~$1000
Me ~$1000

Just sat down, all players unknown to me.

Preflop:

I look at 77 in the SB
Fold to Button, who calls
I make it $40
BB calls
Button calls

Flop 78Jr:

I bet $80
BB calls
Button makes it $250
I push.

Comments?

double u, tee, eff mate?
Call the 250, he isnt calling ur push with a hand you beat.

no need to play this fast at all. i like the flop lead though.

let them take one off, see what turns, decide to lead or check and try to get the money in against a worse hand.

i assume your goal is to have people putting the money in with losers right? give them the chance.

the only card you really don't want to see is a 9 or a 10 on the turn if you think he will raise with a gutshot, but you do not have a read. He might raise you with a higher set but i doubt it. I would call and probably check to this raiser and hope he bets.

Does anyone like flat calling, and leading for 250 on a non 9 or T turn? I think if you take this line, he may call you down which sets up for an easy river push. Hell he might even push back thinking he can get you off a weak J.

Im not saying I would push here necessarily, but people say "he wont call with anything you beat" all the time amd its just flat out incorrect. Especially at 6 max or even more shorthanded. I know a boatload of guys who call that with AJ or worse.

Not trying to discredit you or be a dick, but..
Seriously? on a rainbow flop a huge 3 bet raise? TPTK?
Could we know who these boatload of guys are?
I could use some additions to my buddy list.

It is also incorrect for another reason. If your opponent holds a hand like JT he's may not put any more money in the pot regardless of what you do unless he makes a straight. By not re-raising all you do is give him a free chance to beat you.

i also know of quite a few who will call with hands that we beat here, but maybe the fact that i play a lil crazy has to do with that (i know you feel where i'm coming from, tbg)

also, a hand like AJ or 78 might call ur flop allin but fold if a 9 or 10 comes on the turn. so i think ur flop push is fine.
