Help Obtaining Wireless Connection in the Classroom

I go to Nebraska-Omaha and it isn't really a full wireless campus. In the business building I think there are a few routers, but my Netgear wireless card can only get 1 bar and it can't get a wireless connection. Is there some kind or range extender or stronger wireless card that could help me get connected? I'm kind of a noob when it comes to this stuff so I'm sure there is some kind of solution, but I have no idea what it is. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Ask your school's IT department to extend wireless
coverage to the area you want.

You can also get an external antenna or an external
wireless receiver but that is going to be clunky
carrying it around with your laptop.
I'm sure google can help too.

Finally if you can afford it, cellular carriers
offer internet access so you can get Internet
wherever there is a cellular phone signal. But
this is costly and slower: $30-$100/month

Depending on your school some classrooms might be
hard-wired so you can plug in a network cable.

You're on the Internet Gambling forum. Your question would get much more attention on the aptly named "Computer/Technical Help" board.

Personally, I think you're SOL. Your NIC is a receiver. It has nothing to do with broadcast strength of the signal. If some NIC's have greater sensitivity than others, that's news to me.
