A pair on board.

Low limits holdem.

I've got KK and raised preflop.

Flop is JJx.

I'm first to act.

Do I bet or check?

Someone then raises.

What do I do now?

Funnily two hands later the same thing happened with 99 and 88x.

Re: A pair on board.

You should almost certainly bet a JJx flop if you raise preflop with KK, but how you respond to a raise depends on a number of different factors (how many players are in the hand? what's your read on the raiser? what's your position? Is there a flush/straight draw available? Is the x an A? a 2? etc, etc)

You should be glad it's a tough decision -- if hold 'em were as easy as 'when raised on a paired flop do X', then lots more people would be good at it.

Yes, of course it's a bet out. The board would have to really suck for me not to bet out with Kings--we're talking ten handed to a Ace high monotone flop here. A paired board is nothing to be afraid of until someone plays back at you--since you know where two of the Jacks are it's less likely for someone to have a third.

When it's raised...eh. I'd very likely 3-bet it then reevaluate if capped.

Depends on the raiser ... if he has very low af I might just go into calling mode. If he has any aggression ... I would 3-bet assuming there are other players in the hand. If h/u I would call and c/r the turn. If 3-bet on the turn, im torn between folding or calling down, but usually calling down unless I have a super-read on opponent ...

Is this line too aggressive?
