blackjack counting question

I've had this idea about blackjack but I'm not sure if it's correct. Say you have someone who is able to count perfectly no matter how many decks there are. Now say he counts a 6 or 8 deck shoe. Does counting even matter. Will he ever notice enough of a bias in order to exploit a positive edge?

For a 6 deck shoe, they would notice a bias in the player's favor of .5% or more on about 15% of the hands.

Number of decks is really not relevant to counting accurately.

Any reasonable counter would be able to accurately count a 100-deck shoe. It's not that hard.

And, yes....as long as there is reasonable penetration there will certainly be advantageous situations.
(penetration: meaning that they don't shuffle the 8-deck shoe after dealing only 1 had or just 1 deck or something....usually they'll cut-off the last 1.5 to 2 decks of a 6-deck shoe for example)
