Verdict on Stars 180-player SnGs?

I haven't played many of these, so I have sample-size issues, but these seem very +EV.

Am I alone in this?

looks really +EV in the long-run, I plan to basically play them exclusively if I can build up my roll to ~3K.

I've won one and reached the final table in 8 others (out of 40 maybe?), and I'm nobody's Phil Ivey. So yeah, +eV if you have the time. Problem is by the time I get home from work it's almost too late to start one (last night I finished 4th in 3+ hours).

Internet poker has really come damn far when sites can run 180 person sngs.

The play is terrible. I am shocked at how tight it gets on the bubble especially given the fact that it is a $22 buy in. Ridiculously loose play early, as usual. I have played 20 or so: 1 first, 2 thirds, 1 eleventh. Obviously these results mean nothing but I am pretty sure that a good MTT player's buyin is worth ~$60-70 in one of these things over the long term.

Usually I play in Party's 350-500 person 33 and 55 MMTs, but have been giving the 180SnGs a try since you can find one starting up on a regular basis.

After 23 I've cashed 4 times for a 17% ITM. Among the cashes I've got a 2nd, 3rd, and 10th, and the 10th should have been higher as I suffered a pretty bad beat to go out there. ROI is 144%.

Compared to the Party 33's and 55's, I think the play is slightly worse overall. As with the 33/55's, half the field is pretty bad and you see a lot of donkey plays. I think the final table play has been even worse, but that could also be a factor of the cards or luck that I got during the 2nd and 3rd place finishes.

I do believe that my cards have been a bit cool during these tournies. My Won T$ WSF had been running at only 28%, although it popped up to 30% after the second place finish. I've also been losing with some key hands, KK in particular. I expect my ITM to go up and my ROI to at least hold steady, and maybe go up if the FT play is as weak as I've seen.

I'm not sure that the slightly softer play is worth it for the time it takes. As the previous poster stated, going deep in the final table takes almost 4 hours. That's pretty close to the 4.5-5 hours it takes to go deep in a 350-500 player 33/55 tourney, with much smaller payouts. I've not convinced yet that I can get a higher final table % in the 180SnG's than the 33/55 MMTs such that they would have a similar $/hour rate.

In the 7 I've played I've made 3 final tables and one second table. Clearly your sample size is too small, and/or you suck.
