Bad shufflers at home game
 

Here is my scenario: I play in a home game with a lot of loose players and I usually do pretty well. The only problem is a majority of the players are poor shufflers. Its basically riffle, riffle, cut, deal (with me cringing). How can I bring up the fact that they arent shuffling enough (or that they dont shuffle well) without sounding like an araggont jerk. Also, this is a semi-serious game that is more social than anything.

Do I say anything or just bite the bullet and wait for my turn to shuffle?

Bad shuffling as in same cards/same board all the time or frequently or you just think in your mind there not doing it right?

Buy em an automatic card shuffler. No more than $7 at Wal-Mart.

why not figure out who the two best shufflers are. make them "perma-shufflers".

that's how we do it, plus people take turns perma-dealing. it speeds things up a ton.

As one of 2 of the best shufflers in my own home game, I feel that having one or two set dealers for the night is your best bet. Anything else would slow the game down. And watching these guys deal make it no wonder why they suck so bad...

In our home game, we play on a 10-player oval table. It only makes sense for us to have 1 or 2 dedicated dealers.

What we do for shuffling, however, is that whom ever has the button is responsible for shuffling the cards. Even if you have 1 or 2 bad shufflers in the group, their hands only really get played a couple times around.

Just plain old bad shuffling. The kind where you see the guy fumbling with the cards and the shuffle goes clack, clack, clack and you know the cards arent being shuffled properly. 52 pickup between hands would be more effective than their shuffling.

I like the suggestions about having 2 shufflers on the table, But how do I tell them they they suck and I dont need their services anymore? Thanks for the tips.

Tell them you thought of an idea to speed the game up, so that you can get more hands in. This is especially important if you're playing tournaments.

Just try to get everyone to give it a try once. As long as the assigned shufflers don't mind doing it, I think everyone will end up happy with the arrangement.

He said everyone is horrible at shuffling. How can this be that bad?
