When a sportsbook offers an obviously mistaken line....

...and I make a wager on it, does the sportsbook generally take questionable action like cancel my bet? Is this considered in any way legitimate in the online sportsbook world? If not, does the threat of sending to SBR their communication to me about cancelling my bets sometimes compel the book to leave my bets as is? Any help/advice would be appreciated.

There have been other posts recently on this (IIRC, you were one of them?).

cancelling wrong line bets is explicitly written into almost every online sportsbook's T&C's when you sign up. yes, I've tried it, yes they've cancelled the bets and no, SBR wouldn't have any recourse. be extra careful especially when scalping or arbing different sides of the same game.

Thanks for the help. I guess I'll just have to confirm with them their decision then likely get my money back. I wasn't planning to hedge the bet until I received a response from the book.

Very standard procedure.

If I Remember Correctly

I had to learn that myself, recently.

As for the search, pick a word that makes sense. I can't remember the author or authors, but I remember reading their complaints.

Check within the last month, here and on Sporting Events

Does the fact it was performed on an exchange rather than at a sportsbook make a difference? I'm fairly certain however that the offered lines was from the book itself and not another trader.

I don't play the exchanges (yet) so I don't know what if and how the terms are different on those sites.

here are some examples of cancelled bets:

"Dear Pinnacle Sports Client,

Please accept our apologies for the following: as stated in our Web-Site rules, we will not accept action with obvious, gross line errors or incorrect match-ups.

For this reason we have cancelled your wager on the Cleveland Browns Money Line.

You may go to your account and replay the event at the correct price.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

If you have any questions, please email directly our Customer Service Department at csd@pinnaclesports.com.

Regards,
Customer Service Department
Pinnacle Sports"

"Dear Sir,

In accordance with our rules your wager on Atlanta - Washington, game 2, was cancelled your wagers due to an obviously incorrect line posted on the game. The line should have opened at -113 on Atlanta not -147 where you got your bet at +137 on Washington.

Regards,
Cathy - WSEX."

I found the same line

I put what I had on it, and then I went to get more funds. And by the time i got them there the line was off. But my bet is still in.
