How bad did I play TT?

Party $25 NL 6max ring game. I'm the big stack with about $67 and pick up Th Ts in the small blind. UTG+1 (who's fairly solid, but not too aggressive and has $45) makes it $2 to go. It's folded to me. I raise to $5 to see where I'm at. He calls.

Flop is Qs 6d 8s. I bet $4, he calls. Turn comes 4c. Bet $4, call. River Kc. I bet $3, he raises to $8. I fold.

OK... so where are you at now?

I think this was misplayed on all streets.

A lot of players would raise there out of sheer principle. Personally I'd prefer calling preflop - you have a good hand of course, but you want to keep the pot fairly small as you're out of position.

Check/call flop. Lead turn. And when I say lead, I mean bet like a man. Not $4 $4 $3.

River is tough. He's bet out, he's called. My best advice is to go with your gut. Of course, when the king comes you should probably check as you said he's solid and I can't imagine you beat much there (How often does he raise UTG+1 btw? Any ace? That is a big factor). If the river blanks it's tough, though - that's what I mean. I'd tend towards check/folding if he's solid.

Well, now that I look it over, I don't think the river is tough, and I don't know why I keep saying that. It's an easy check/fold.

Position, position, position. Unfortunately, when you raise from out of position and are called by the initial raiser, you don't get to see where you're at.

Your preflop reraise and your flop and turn bets are too small; they're worse than check/calling.

You've got to check/fold that river.

Here's a great example of one that I royally screwed up in exactly this way. I end up folding to a preflop push. I would have spiked my set and bet out the AK guy. Who of course, ends up taking the stack of the AA guy with a one card flush.

Ultimate Bet No-Limit Hold'em, $.25 BB (10 handed) converter

UTG+2 ($16.20)
MP1 ($5.35)
MP2 ($34.75)
MP3 ($24.10)
CO ($20.40)
Button ($6.25)
SB ($24.15)
BB ($25)
Hero ($17)
UTG+1 ($31.45)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
Hero calls $0.25, UTG+1 calls $0.25, <font color="#CC3333">UTG+2 raises to $1.35</font>, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, MP3 folds, CO folds, Button folds, SB folds, BB folds, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $4.65</font>, UTG+1 calls $4.40, UTG+2 raises all-in, Hero folds, UTG+1 calls.

Flop: ($15.40) 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>

Turn: ($15.40) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>

River: ($15.40) K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>

Final Pot: $15.40

Results in white below: <font color="#FFFFFF">
UTG+1 has Ks Ad (flush, ace high).
UTG+2 has Ah As (one pair, aces).
Outcome: UTG+1 wins $15.40. </font>

You would have avoided all of this trouble if you'd simply called TT preflop and played it for set value.
