Mid pockets for a raise

Final table of 9.

I have 32K in chips, blinds are 4k/8k, two big stacks with ~200k, and one short stack is currently all-in in the BB.

Everyone else has 20-40K

I am in the CO, first BS limps in, second raises to 24k

I have 88 in the hole. Does you push or fold here? If you fold, what would it take for you to push?

For some reason I felt that the raiser had an overpair and I folded, but I was wrong - I would have rivered trips and tripled up to over 100k in chips.

I'd have pushed. You have 4xBB, and not much time left. You can't wait around for a better hand. And you are also getting some nice odds with all that other money in the pot. You won't get any better opportunities than this.

you are getting 2:1 on your money by pushing. This is assuming you end up heads up against the preflop raiser which is proably going to be the case.

If he has a overpair that stinks..but unless you have an incredible read on you opponent that is too narrow a range of hands to put him on.

the only way you are going to have a chance is to get your money in. You are so short stacked that you are going to be called by the big stacks. At this point you are going to have to get extremely lucky to really make it any further.
I would not even think about it and be forced to push and hope you hold up.

I think a lot depends on the pay structure. Is moving up 1 more pay spot significant to you. If it is then I think you fold, if not then this is an easy push to give you a chance to get in the top 3 where you can get into the real money.

Thanks all

Yeah, I agree 100%. Wish I had done what I knew was right intellectually.

Push and hope that the limper folds. Then you probably have a 50/50-shot with great pot odds. Eventually you need to gamble a bit and with that small stack you cant wait any longer.
