Two Plus Two Older Archives - Does strategy change in rebuy MTT's? Why?

One of the things I've noticed is they reward over agressive players much more than a no re-buy tourny does. It's not uncommon to see players with over 20,000 chips in the first ten minutes in some of the bigger online re-buy tournies. However these guys are also willing to loose the maximum number of rebuys allowed.

I once sat at a $2 re-buy with unlimited re-buys, and this one guy at my table re-bought no less than thirty times. Towards the end of the re-buy period he was going all-in every hand and getting busted probably four out of five times. This was a tourny of at least 500 people and this guy single handedly put the table in such a good position that over half of us were at the final table. This is an extreme example, but I think it makes my point.

That said, I generally like to avoid these tournies all together with one exception. That's when the buy-ins are large enough to deter people from re-buying too many times ($30 and up). However if I do find myself playing in one, I like to become the rock and wait for monsters, I know I'm going to get called and hopefully pushed all in. This usually gets me through the re-buy period with a good size stack right around the average.
